El Cine

Los Cristianos

When I step into El Cine in Los Cristianos, I realize it's not a fancy restaurant, but rather an authentic spot to savor the best of Tenerife's seafood without any fuss. The place has been around for decades and offers straightforward cuisine, featuring fresh fish and seafood specialties like cuttlefish, sardines, fried calamari, fried octopus, and hake, all prepared with respect for Canarian tradition.

The space is modest, with outdoor tables in a passageway near the port, which adds a relaxed and very "local" feel. I love how they don't try to disguise anything: here you eat fish, yes, but in an authentic way, without frills, and with ingredients that have character.

The dishes aren't overly elaborate, but they are substantial: you can order grilled sardines, hake fillets, prawns, calamari, or other fish; all with generous portions that perfectly justify the price. El Cine also serves house wine, which adds that traditional, family touch that makes everything come together perfectly.

The atmosphere, in my opinion, is cheerful but not loud: the bar is full of customers who come to eat after the beach or simply to chat. It was founded in 1987 by Juan Carlos Magdalena, which explains why it remains one of the classic establishments in Los Cristianos.

For me, El Cine is one of those must-visit places if you're in the south of Tenerife and fancy eating real fish, in generous portions, with a sense of authenticity that you don't find in many of the area's "tourist restaurants." Don't expect luxury, but you will find flavor, quality ingredients, and friendly service: exactly what you're looking for if you want to eat "like a local."
