Finca El Burrero

La Esperanza

Finca El Burrero was born as a family project in La Esperanza (Tenerife), where Ana Pineda and Samu Mesa seek to offer an alternative experience of nature and animal contact for people of all ages. Operating for just over three years, the farm has grown with attention to every detail, with animals accustomed to living with visitors, allowing for close moments such as petting, brushing, or walking donkeys, and feeding ponies, cows, goats, and miniature pigs.

During the approximately two-hour guided tour, you'll walk around the grounds, see the fruit trees, come into contact with the animals, enjoy the play and picnic area, and reserve special moments for the donkeys, one of the emotional focal points of the place. Private or school tours are also available, with the timing and activities tailored to suit your needs.

What sets Finca El Burrero apart is its balance of education, leisure, and nature: it's not just a place to spend quality time, but a space where you can learn about farm animals, agricultural sustainability, and rural island life in a very direct way. Its philosophy is focused on caring and respect for the environment. Furthermore, they have gained local recognition for their social, educational, and animal care impact.

For those looking to disconnect from the city, Finca El Burrero offers an immersive experience: fresh air, animals that let themselves be known, spaces for children to play outdoors, a connection with the countryside, and that feeling of having escaped the routine for a while.

Where to eat

Cofradía de Pescadores - Candelaria

The Fishermen's Guild Bar Nuestra Señora de Candelaria is a place where seafaring tradition is reflected in every dish. Located next to the port, it offers fresh fish and seafood, simply prepared to enhance their flavor. Its atmosphere is family-friendly, authentic, and popular with locals, making it an ideal stop for those seeking Canarian seafood cuisine in its most honest and intimate form.

What to see

Parque Natural El Montillo

El Montillo Natural Park in La Matanza de Acentejo is a vast green space where you can enjoy the fresh air without leaving the city. It's a complete park, with children's play areas, a café, lakes with waterfalls, picnic areas, viewpoints, a dog park, a beach soccer field, a climbing wall, and a skate park, all surrounded by lush vegetation and tranquility—ideal for a unique day out.

Activities

Parque Recreativo Los Brezos

If you're looking for a recreational area where the mountains feel more open and wild, Los Brezos has a very particular atmosphere. Here, the landscape constantly changes between pine forests, scrubland, and clearings with sweeping views. It's a very comfortable place to spend the day having a barbecue or picnic, but also for a short walk and enjoying the fresh air and tranquility of the summit.

Beaches

Playa de la Nea

La Nea Beach in Radazul is a volcanic black sand beach perfect for lingering. It's very close to Santa Cruz, but the atmosphere here is calmer, with a breakwater that softens the waves and a promenade along the entire shore. It's a comfortable beach, well-integrated into the surroundings and very popular with locals.

Nightlife
Shopping

Vermut el 18 blanco

If you enjoyed the red Vermouth 18, this white one takes a completely different approach. Everything here is fresher, more citrusy, and lighter, but without sacrificing complexity. You'll notice it from the first sip: herbaceous notes, fruit, and that gentle spiciness that makes it so easy to drink. It's perfect as an aperitif or for something more relaxed. Personally, I prefer red vermouths, but when it comes to the 18, I can't decide which one I like best. They're both incredible.

Sports

BMX Parque la Vega

The BMX circuit at Parque de La Vega in La Laguna is one of the most active spaces for freestyle enthusiasts in northern Tenerife. Surrounded by greenery and a youthful atmosphere, it offers a course with ramps, jumps, and modules ideal for practicing technique and style. It's a regular meeting point for local riders who appreciate its relaxed, community-oriented atmosphere, open to all levels.

Trekking

El Sauzal - Fuente del Pino

The route connecting El Sauzal with Fuente del Pino in La Matanza is a local trail, ideal for enjoying the tranquility of northern Tenerife. It runs through vineyards, ravines, and small rural roads, with views of the sea and Mount Teide. It's a relatively simple but charming route that combines nature and tradition, as the fountain was historically a meeting place for shepherds and neighbors.
