Vermut el 18 blanco

Tegueste

If you approach this white vermouth expecting something classic, you're in for a surprise. El 18 Blanco Vermouth starts from a very different base: Listán Blanco wine, a native variety perfectly adapted to Tenerife's volcanic soil, with a fresh and slightly fruity profile.

From there, it's crafted with the same philosophy as the red: a maceration of 18 botanicals, many of them local, which give it its distinctive character. But here, the result is quite different. Where the red is deeper and spicier, this white is more vibrant, with clear notes of citrus (local oranges and lemons), herbaceous touches reminiscent of fennel, and a subtle background of spices like vanilla and cinnamon.

On the palate, it feels light yet structured, balanced between freshness and a very restrained sweetness. It's one of those vermouths that goes down easily, but if you take the time to analyze it, it has considerably more complexity than it initially appears. It works beautifully on its own, over ice, or even in cocktails if you're feeling adventurous.

The underlying concept remains the same: the fusion of Bodegas El Lomo's expertise with a more creative approach to mixology. This blend is what sets it apart from your average vermouth, making it something deeply connected to Canarian products and their unique interpretation.

If you'd like to try it, you'll most likely find it in wine shops on the island, stores specializing in local products, or places like Casa del Vino. It's also starting to appear in bars that prioritize aperitifs and showcase authentic Canarian ingredients. It's one of those vermouths that, when you see it on the menu, you know the place is serious.

Trekking

El Tomadero

A circular route in Anaga Rural Park connecting Punta del Hidalgo with El Tomadero, ascending via a channel carved into the rock and descending through the ravine. It's approximately 6 km with little elevation gain, but includes technical and exposed sections that increase the difficulty. The channel is in very good condition and clean, although it can be quite vertigo-inducing in some places. The descent through the ravine is rocky and uncomfortable. A short but demanding route, not recommended for people with vertigo.
