The PNT 13 Circular Sámara Trail is one of the most highly recommended routes for those who wish to discover Teide National Park without facing steep inclines or excessively demanding hikes. Located on the southern slope of the park, this route offers a spectacular contrast of colors and textures: black lava flows, green pine forests, and clear skies that reveal Mount Teide and, on clear days, even the neighboring islands.
The starting point is near the Sámara Viewpoint, from where a well-marked trail begins, circling volcanic cones formed by historical eruptions. The path offers a close-up view of the park's geological richness, with rocks solidified into whimsical shapes and soils that change color at every turn.
One of the great attractions of this route is the feeling of vastness and open horizon. Views of Mount Teide and Pico Viejo are constant, and depending on the time of day, the light enhances the colors of the lava and the pine forest, creating an almost magical atmosphere.
Its difficulty level makes it a perfect option for families, photographers, or visitors seeking an authentic volcanic experience without high physical demands. Despite its accessibility, it is advisable to bring sun protection, sufficient water, and clothing suitable for temperature changes, as the high-mountain climate can change rapidly.

You'll walk approximately 13 km around this large volcanic crag, over a thousand meters high, which was a sacred site and key center of social interaction for the Guanches. The route passes through ravines, ancient threshing floors, small hermitages, and traditional agricultural remains. There's hardly any shade, but in return, you'll have open panoramic views for much of the way and a constant sense of a rural, volcanic, and mystical landscape.
