Tierra del Trigo
Los Silos

Tierra del Trigo is a hidden gem in the north of Tenerife, within the municipality of Los Silos. About 2.5 km from the town center and at an altitude of about 500 m, it was historically a settlement linked to wheat farming, although today this agricultural legacy has given way to vineyards, potatoes, and terraced fields that create a truly picturesque landscape.
The main area is made up of a few small houses scattered around the shrine of Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, built on a square featuring a large, centuries-old araucaria tree. This combination of square, tree, and church serves as the visual center of the site and gives you the feeling of being in an authentic corner of the Tenerife midlands.
From there, the approved PR-TF 53.1 Cuevas Negras – Tierra del Trigo trail begins, approximately 2.2 km (linear) and takes approximately one hour to walk. The route crosses Lomo El Topo and descends through the El Salto Ravine to Lomo Morín, where a limestone waterfall (the "Fuga de los Cuchillos") is striking for its whitish color. It then continues to Tierra del Trigo, completing an incline of about 200 meters. The terrain is easy, with agricultural landscapes, scrubland, and views of both the sea and Mount Teide from above.
This place has a special charm: few people, unspoiled nature, and a wide variety of landscapes. Ideal if you're looking for a quiet getaway with history, good hiking, and photogenic spots.
Tips: Wear comfortable shoes, check if it has rained because the trail can get muddy, bring water and sunscreen, and respect agricultural properties.
