🏔️ Anaga Rural Park
📋No permit required
This circular route starts from Punta del Hidalgo in Anaga Rural Park. Begin by following the PR TF-10 trail towards Chinamada, which you then leave at a right turn onto a track with a barrier. After a short approach, you'll find the canal leading to El Tomadero (150 meters above sea level).
The ascent through the canal is the most challenging section and the one that determines the difficulty of the route. The canal is in very good condition, clean and free of vegetation, with sufficient width for walking inside and a side wall that provides some security. Even so, the feeling of vertigo is considerable, greater than in other canals in Anaga. In some specific areas, it's necessary to proceed seated, and in the final stretch, near El Tomadero, there's a three-meter drop where you practically have to crawl. The vertical drop is small, but there's no other safe way to get past this point.
From El Tomadero, the descent follows the streambed, basically along the rocky bottom. It's an uncomfortable section, with abundant stones and uneven terrain, requiring constant attention to footing.
It's a short route with little elevation gain, but it's classified as difficult due to the channel crossing and the exposure. Recommended only for experienced hikers who don't suffer from vertigo. Avoid rainy days due to the added risk in the channel and the ravine. Hiking boots with good grip, sufficient water, and sun protection are essential.
