Piscina natural de Jóver
Tejina

The Jóver Natural Pool is one of those places where you can experience the purest coastal life in Tenerife. Located in the small fishing village of Tejina, this natural pool is a refuge for those looking to escape the tourist beaches and enjoy the sea in its most serene and authentic state. Carved between volcanic rocks and reinforced with stone walls to protect it from the waves, Jóver maintains the perfect balance between nature and community.
The water here is clean and transparent, ideal for swimming, floating, or simply cooling off while listening to the constant murmur of the Atlantic. Locals often come here daily, especially at sunset, when the sun tingles the horizon and the sea breeze mingles with the salty scent of the sea. Although it is not a supervised area, it has safe access areas, metal ladders, and stone platforms where you can rest or sunbathe.
The most charming thing about Jóver is its local atmosphere. Unlike other, more well-known pools, this place maintains a peaceful and friendly atmosphere. Just a few meters from the pool, there are stone benches where fishermen chat or prepare their lines, and in summer it's common to see entire families enjoying snacks by the sea. There are no bars or beach bars, but there is the feeling of being in a corner that belongs to the locals, where time seems to move more slowly.
Furthermore, the surroundings of Tejina add a special value to the visit: the views of the north coast are breathtaking, and on clear days you can see the profile of Bajamar in the background. In the afternoon, when the sun begins to set and the tide calms, Jóver becomes the perfect place to unwind.
Visiting the Jóver Natural Pool is like immersing yourself in a part of Tenerife's coastal soul: simple, sincere, and deeply connected to the sea. It's not just a place to swim, but a small refuge where the Atlantic shows its kindest side and the local spirit still breathes strongly.

Where to eat
La Sardinera II
La Sardinera II, in La Esperanza, is a family-run restaurant serving traditional Canarian cuisine with modern touches, ideal for enjoying a leisurely meal after a hike or for a relaxed lunch. It stands out for its welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and honest approach where quality, quantity, and price are perfectly balanced. A simple, well-maintained, and highly recommended place.
What to see
Mirador La Garañona
Mirador La Garañona, in El Sauzal, is one of those natural viewpoints that takes your breath away from the very first moment: sweeping views over the cliffs of Acentejo, Arena Beach (La Garañona), and the endless Atlantic Ocean. The landscaped area with benches and pathways allows you to enjoy the panorama in a relaxed atmosphere, and you can even have a coffee on the terrace while admiring the scenery.
Activities
Albergue Comarcal Valle Colino
The Valle Colino Regional Shelter in La Laguna is Tenerife's main shelter for abandoned animals. In addition to caring for and sheltering dogs and cats, it offers the opportunity to volunteer in its daily work: walking animals, helping with cleaning them, or assisting with adoption campaigns. A caring and emotionally rewarding experience for animal lovers.
Beaches
Mesa del Mar
Visiting Mesa del Mar is like stepping into a tranquil corner where northern Tenerife feels most authentic. Upon arrival, you'll find a small coastal village nestled between cliffs, natural pools, and the open sea. Here, everything invites you to slow down: walk along the water's edge, sit and gaze at the Atlantic, and enjoy a local atmosphere, unhurried and unpretentious.
Nightlife
Shopping
Mercadillo del Agricultor Tacoronte
If you come to this town and crave authentic local flavors, the Tacoronte Farmers' Market is my go-to spot. It's a traditional farmers' market where the producers themselves sell fruits, vegetables, cheeses, honey, breads, and family wines directly from their farms to you—no middlemen—all fresh and in season. The atmosphere is lively and genuine, perfect for picking up products that truly make a difference in taste.
Sports
BMX Parque la Vega
The BMX circuit at Parque de La Vega in La Laguna is one of the most active spaces for freestyle enthusiasts in northern Tenerife. Surrounded by greenery and a youthful atmosphere, it offers a course with ramps, jumps, and modules ideal for practicing technique and style. It's a regular meeting point for local riders who appreciate its relaxed, community-oriented atmosphere, open to all levels.
Trekking
El Tomadero
A circular route in Anaga Rural Park connecting Punta del Hidalgo with El Tomadero, ascending via a channel carved into the rock and descending through the ravine. It's approximately 6 km with little elevation gain, but includes technical and exposed sections that increase the difficulty. The channel is in very good condition and clean, although it can be quite vertigo-inducing in some places. The descent through the ravine is rocky and uncomfortable. A short but demanding route, not recommended for people with vertigo.
