Titolo 4

Ron Santa Cruz

Guimar

When you start paying attention to what people are drinking in Tenerife, Ron Santa Cruz quickly comes to mind. It's a relatively new rum on the Canary Islands scene, as the distillery was founded in 2010, but it has already carved out a significant niche in local consumption.

This isn't a rum meant to be analyzed in a glass like a premium aged rum. Its focus is different: versatility and ease of use. Most of its versions—white, gold, or even platinum—are designed to mix well, with a smooth, non-aggressive, and slightly sweet profile.

For example, the gold has that classic touch with light notes of vanilla and wood thanks to its aging in oak barrels, but without being heavy. It's an easy-drinking, balanced rum, designed to work both with soda and on the rocks. The white and platinum versions follow this same approach: clean, fresh, and very neutral, ideal for cocktails or mixed drinks without any fuss.

Then you have more casual versions, like strawberry flavors or honey rum, which lean more towards sweet and aromatic, very much in line with what's popular in the Canary Islands for after-dinner drinks or more relaxed gatherings.

Ultimately, Ron Santa Cruz isn't trying to compete with complex, long-aged rums. Its niche is clear: gatherings, outdoor dining, nights out with friends, and that kind of consumption where you want something that always works. It's easy to find in supermarkets, bars, and entertainment venues across the island, and it's part of the everyday rum scene in Tenerife.
