El Miradero is a guachinche (a traditional Canarian eatery) located in a rural area of Icod de los Vinos, somewhat removed from the town center and with slightly difficult access. Its name is no coincidence: the location offers breathtaking views of the slopes of Mount Teide, surrounded by vineyards, pine trees, and nature, making a visit an experience that goes far beyond simply sitting down to eat.
It's not your typical rough, uncharming guachinche. Here, good taste is evident in the decor, rustic yet carefully curated, welcoming, and in keeping with the surroundings. The establishment is well-maintained, with a modern cuisine that respects the traditional essence and pleasant spaces both inside and out. Eating in the shade of a tree, with a clear sky and Mount Teide in front of you, is one of its greatest attractions.
The cuisine is authentic Canarian, without pretensions of haute cuisine, but very well executed. The grilled meats, stews, grilled cheese, and scrambled eggs stand out for their flavor and well-prepared simplicity. Everything is honest, tasty, and beautifully presented, accompanied by the house wine served in a flask, as tradition dictates. The desserts and coffee, made with a classic coffee maker, complete a truly homey and charming experience.
The service is friendly and courteous, keeping in mind that guachinches are not professional restaurants, but rather informal eateries designed to showcase their own wine. It also has a children's play area, making it very convenient for families.
It's advisable to bring cash, as they don't accept cards, and to reserve a table if possible. Parking can be difficult as the day progresses, and the access road is narrow, so it's recommended to arrive early and avoid driving past the restaurant looking for a spot.
El Miradero is a special, peaceful, and authentic place, where the scenery, food, and surroundings combine to offer one of those memorable experiences that you'll always want to return to.

Where to eat
Don Quicacho
Don Quicacho, in Garachico, is a small, artisanal Mexican food stand on the street with a sea view. It offers authentic Mexican street food, freshly made, quick, homemade, and very reasonably priced. It's ideal for a casual and tasty meal to enjoy on the seafront promenade in front of the stand.
What to see
Tensei Tenmoku
If you enjoy discovering hidden gems while strolling through Garachico, Tensei Tenmoku will captivate you. It's a contemporary sculpture called "Gate Without a Door," created in Carrara marble by the artist Kan Yasuda and placed facing the sea at the fishing pier. You walk up to it, admire it from different angles, and each time it transforms against the backdrop of the blue Atlantic—it's one of those places that always looks great in photos and simply makes you smile.
Activities
Caña y Ron
Caña y Ron is an agricultural and cultural project in Icod de los Vinos that revives the historical cultivation of sugarcane in Tenerife and connects it with the artisanal production of rum. It's a living farm where you can learn, walk, taste, and understand a key part of the islands' history.
Beaches
Charco de Los Frailes
Charco de Los Frailes, on the Garachico coast, is an almost secret volcanic haven where the sea forms crystal-clear pools between dark rocks. It's a wild, quiet, and deeply natural place, ideal for unwinding, observing the landscape, and feeling the force of the Atlantic without the crowds. Its beauty lies in its purity: no services, no artifice, just the sound of the sea and the wind.
