Icod de Los Vinos
Icod de Los Vinos

Icod de los Vinos, in the north of Tenerife, is a town with a soulful atmosphere. Its emblem is the Ancient Dragon Tree, an iconic tree over 500 years old that stands in a garden surrounded by endemic species. From there, you can walk to the old town, where cobblestone streets lead you to quiet squares like the Plaza de la Constitución and Plaza de Lorenzo Cáceres, surrounded by stately homes with wooden balconies.
The Church of San Marcos and former convents preserve details of the colonial past, while the Mariposario del Drago, with hundreds of tropical butterflies, offers a sensory and magical break. Nearby, the Cueva del Viento—the largest volcanic tube in Europe—allows you to explore the island's interior with unique lava formations and archaeological remains.
The town has a strong winemaking tradition, and it's not difficult to find wineries where you can try local wines like the sweet Malvasía. During the season, traditional festivals are held where wooden carts are paraded through the streets in honor of Saint Andrew, creating an atmosphere that blends the ancestral with the festive.
Furthermore, the nearby Playa de San Marcos offers a place to combine history and culture with a relaxing time by the sea. Icod is a blend of volcanic landscape, Guanche heritage, traditional architecture, and rural flavor. Ideal for those seeking an authentic and serene experience in Tenerife.

Volcanic landscapes, pine forests, hairpin bends, and views of the Atlantic make this demanding route a classic for cyclists seeking both physical challenge and natural beauty.
Trekking
Sendero Cuevas Negras
This circular trail combines the PR-TF53 and PR-TF54 routes, covering approximately 18 km in 5 to 6 hours. Starting in Los Silos, you climb to Erjos (almost 1,000 m), descend through the lush Barranco de Cuevas Negras, and pass through Las Moradas on the way back. The trail offers landscapes of laurel forest, forest, farmhouses, cobbled paths, and views of the sea and mountains. The difficulty is medium to high, but the panoramic views are well worth it.
