Piscinas naturales El Caletón

Garachico

The natural pools of Garachico are one of those places that perfectly combine nature, history and tranquillity. Formed after the eruption of the Trevejo volcano in 1706, the lava that reached the sea created these unique pools where today you can bathe surrounded by volcanic rock and crystalline salt water. The place has something special: the contrast between the black of the rock, the blue of the sea and the white of the foam when the waves break. There are deep areas, others more sheltered and calm, so you can choose depending on whether you feel like swimming, relaxing or just getting your feet wet.

Apart from the bathing, the surroundings make it all the more complete. Garachico has a lot of charm: a small village with cobbled streets, colonial architecture and a leisurely atmosphere that invites you to stroll leisurely. Very close to the swimming pools there are bars and restaurants where you can eat well (the fish here is a safe bet) or have a coffee looking out to sea. It's the perfect place to spend the whole day without the need for long journeys, ideal for disconnecting and enjoying the north of the island.

What to see

Tensei Tenmoku

If you enjoy discovering hidden gems while strolling through Garachico, Tensei Tenmoku will captivate you. It's a contemporary sculpture called "Gate Without a Door," created in Carrara marble by the artist Kan Yasuda and placed facing the sea at the fishing pier. You walk up to it, admire it from different angles, and each time it transforms against the backdrop of the blue Atlantic—it's one of those places that always looks great in photos and simply makes you smile.
