Avistamiento de Aves Los Gigantes

Los Gigantes

Birdwatching at the Los Gigantes Cliffs means immersing yourself in one of Tenerife's most dramatic and beautiful settings. These vertical walls of volcanic rock, which rise hundreds of meters above the sea, are impressive not only for their scale but also because seabirds and birds of prey nest there, finding refuge, food, and territory among their crevices, ledges, and inaccessible cliffs.

Among the species that can be seen are the osprey, one of the islands' most spectacular birds of prey; the falcon, adapted to hunting from cliffs and open air; and the raven, which soars over these heights in search of rocky areas to perch. Seabirds such as gulls, shearwaters, and the occasional tern can also be seen. Near the coast, on boat trips, observations are complemented by flight over the waves, sea fishing, or coastal walks, where the sea brings movement and life to the sky.

The natural environment is combined with real protection: the Cliffs are part of the Teno Rural Park, with regulations to preserve the nesting of these species, prevent unwelcome approaches, and protect sensitive habitats. You'll see marked spots for viewing the cliffs from above, but it's important to maintain silence, distance, and respect so as not to disturb the birds, especially during breeding season.

The experience is particularly magical at dawn or dusk, when the low light paints the rock walls with golden hues and ocean currents add mist or fog that makes everything even more dramatic. Using binoculars or a telescope, a discreet camera, patience, and a good eye are key: observe where the birds perch, listen to their calls, and watch them fly low or dive while fishing from the sea.

If you enjoy birdwatching, Los Gigantes doesn't just offer a session: it gives you scenery, excitement, and a connection with the wild, all in one.
