Sora Kai
El Sauzal

Must-try dishes
Takoyaki
Sushi
When you arrive at Sora Kai in El Sauzal, the most striking thing is the view. The restaurant opens onto the northern landscape of Tenerife: the ocean in front and Mount Teide marking the horizon. This visual context greatly enhances the experience of the meal and makes time seem to stretch out.
The Japanese and fusion cuisine is appealing because it combines fresh ingredients with preparations that focus on texture and flavor. Some of the most popular dishes are the takoyaki and their homemade cheesecake, both well-executed and consistent with a varied and carefully curated menu. The quality of the ingredients is evident without unnecessary embellishment. The feeling is that the chef and team want each dish to have its own space on the table.
The atmosphere here is perfectly balanced: it's not noisy or overly formal, but rather a space designed for leisurely enjoyment. The decor and layout of the dining room, with its indoor areas and large terrace, allow you to feel connected to the natural surroundings, and the light changes throughout the day, especially at sunset when the sun paints Mount Teide and the sea.
The staff is friendly, attentive, and professional from the moment you sit down. This greatly influences my perception of the place: it's not just the food, but how they guide me in choosing my dishes, how they answer questions, and how they move with ease even when the dining room starts to fill up.
Often, after finishing my meal, I'd rather linger on the terrace with a drink, enjoying the sounds of the outdoors and the conversation, than rush out. That's why I would recommend it both for couples and groups of friends, especially if you're looking to combine excellent Japanese cuisine with one of the most beautiful views in northern Tenerife.

What to see
Parque Natural El Montillo
El Montillo Natural Park in La Matanza de Acentejo is a vast green space where you can enjoy the fresh air without leaving the city. It's a complete park, with children's play areas, a café, lakes with waterfalls, picnic areas, viewpoints, a dog park, a beach soccer field, a climbing wall, and a skate park, all surrounded by lush vegetation and tranquility—ideal for a unique day out.
Activities
Forestal Park Tenerife
An adventure awaits you among the trees at Forestal Park Tenerife: enormous zip lines, suspension bridges, and climbing nets in the heart of the Las Lagunetas pine forest. It's perfect if you want to disconnect from the beach, breathe fresh air, and get your adrenaline pumping with family or friends.

Playa el Ancón
El Ancón beach in La Orotava welcomes you with its dark volcanic sand and a deep blue sea that shifts with the light. It's a wide beach with lively waves and a natural setting that invites you to stroll, gaze at the horizon, and feel the power of the Atlantic. Nightlife
Shopping
Mercadillo del Agricultor Tacoronte
If you come to this town and crave authentic local flavors, the Tacoronte Farmers' Market is my go-to spot. It's a traditional farmers' market where the producers themselves sell fruits, vegetables, cheeses, honey, breads, and family wines directly from their farms to you—no middlemen—all fresh and in season. The atmosphere is lively and genuine, perfect for picking up products that truly make a difference in taste.

Trekking
El Sauzal - Fuente del Pino
The route connecting El Sauzal with Fuente del Pino in La Matanza is a local trail, ideal for enjoying the tranquility of northern Tenerife. It runs through vineyards, ravines, and small rural roads, with views of the sea and Mount Teide. It's a relatively simple but charming route that combines nature and tradition, as the fountain was historically a meeting place for shepherds and neighbors.
