Paisaje Lunar Vilaflor
Vilaflor de Chasna

High in the mountains of the municipality of Vilaflor de Chasna, within the Corona Forestal Natural Park, lies the renowned Lunar Landscape, a place that seems otherworldly. The curious rock formations, in shades of whitish and ochre, were sculpted by wind and water erosion on volcanic ash accumulated thousands of years ago.
The result is a collection of columns, cones, and conical shapes, known in geomorphology as a "fairy chimney," reminiscent of a science fiction landscape, hence its popular name. These structures are located in an area surrounded by Canary Island pine trees, creating a striking contrast of colors: the intense green of the forest against the light, soft tones of the terrain.
Access is via a circular trail that starts from the center of Vilaflor. Although the hike can be challenging in some sections, the route traverses a stunning natural environment, offering views of the southern valleys of the island.
More than just a tourist attraction, the Lunar Landscape is a place to observe calmly, where nature reveals its most artistic side. It's one of those spots where you understand why Tenerife is an island of contrasts, capable of transforming from forest to an almost Martian landscape in a matter of minutes.
