Las Carboneras
Macizo de Anaga
Las Carboneras is a small hamlet located in the heart of the Anaga Rural Park, within the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. The journey itself is part of the experience: the road winds through verdant mountains, and little by little, scattered houses, terraced fields, and trails connecting to Chinamada, Taborno, and Cruz del Carmen appear.
The hamlet retains a strong rural character, with traditional Canarian stone houses and reddish roofs, orchards, and ancient paths still used by the residents. The surroundings are breathtaking: laurel forest mountains, deep ravines, and views that open onto the sea of clouds or the Atlantic Ocean, depending on the time of day.
It's an ideal starting point for hikers. Several routes begin here, such as the path to Chinamada or to the Cabezo del Tejo viewpoint, one of the most spectacular on the entire island. There's also a small bar-restaurant where you can sample homemade Canarian cuisine, perfect after a hike along the park's trails.
The beauty of Las Carboneras lies in its authenticity. It's not geared towards mass tourism: it remains a vibrant village, with its own rhythm and a tranquility that seems to have stood still in time. El Tomadero
A circular route in Anaga Rural Park connecting Punta del Hidalgo with El Tomadero, ascending via a channel carved into the rock and descending through the ravine. It's approximately 6 km with little elevation gain, but includes technical and exposed sections that increase the difficulty. The channel is in very good condition and clean, although it can be quite vertigo-inducing in some places. The descent through the ravine is rocky and uncomfortable. A short but demanding route, not recommended for people with vertigo.
