🏔️ Guaza Mountain Natural Monument
📋No permit required
Guaza Mountain is a Natural Monument located near Los Cristianos, in the municipality of Arona. It stands out for its imposing silhouette and for being an area of great scenic and ecological value. The trail that runs along it connects the coastal town with El Palmar, offering an experience that combines ocean views, contact with native flora, and the opportunity to discover a less-traveled corner of southern Tenerife.
Along the route, which winds between old fishing paths and volcanic slopes, you can stop at natural viewpoints from which, with a little patience, you can observe dolphins and sea turtles swimming in the crystal-clear waters near the coast. These sightings, along with the flight of seabirds such as shearwaters and gulls, add an extra dimension to the hike.
The area preserves remnants of ancient terraces and small caves, evidence of past agricultural and fishing uses. The contrast between the volcanic aridity and the deep blue of the Atlantic creates a landscape that invites contemplation. Although it is not a technical trail, comfortable shoes, sun protection, and water are recommended, as the area lacks shade. Walking through Montaña de Guaza is to discover a corner where the volcanic land meets the sea and wildlife roams freely.
