Titolo 4
BMX San Miguel
Las Chafiras

In Las Chafiras, San Miguel de Abona, is one of the most complete BMX circuits in Tenerife, which since its inauguration has hosted official competitions such as the Tenerife BMX Race Championship. Covering approximately 8,000 m², this sports facility offers jumps, hurdles, ramps, and technical turns designed for BMX Races. It is located next to the skate park, providing added variety for those who enjoy urban sports.
The circuit includes a BMX school that offers introductory classes for very young ages (from 2-3 years old), where they learn techniques such as push-offs, jumps, positioning, and fence exits. In addition, there are open days every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for anyone (federated or not), at a cost of €2.50 per hour, making it accessible to those who want to try it without obligation.
The circuit isn't just for individual training: it has hosted official sporting events and tournaments, with 85 cyclists participating in the last edition of the Canary Islands BMX Cup (2025). This gives it prestige and makes it a local and regional reference point. Its design meets demanding requirements, with infrastructure designed for competitions, shaded areas, suitable access, and improvements such as the recently renovated electrical installation, which facilitate its use at different times.
What sets it apart from other BMX tracks on the island is its combination of competitive-level infrastructure, open to the general public, affordable prices, and proximity for those living in the southern area. Furthermore, its location near Las Chafiras makes it very accessible, which favors its use by both young people who want to train and families looking for outdoor sports.
Visiting this circuit is ideal if you're interested in serious BMX (training or competition), but also if you're just looking to try something different and have fun on your bike. It's a promising sports venue with technical and community components, adding a dedicated space to Tenerife's sporting offerings for those who love pedaling, cornering, and jumping.

Where to eat
D´Tapas
If you work in the Las Chafiras area and are looking for a simple place to have an early breakfast or a good lunch without spending a lot, Cafetería De Tapas is a very practical option. The place caters to local workers, so it opens early and is great for quick breakfasts and a set lunch menu for €11. The food is homemade, tasty, and well-prepared for the price, served in a clean and uncomplicated atmosphere.
What to see
La Hoya
The hamlet of La Hoya, in San Miguel de Abona, is one of those places that helps you understand what life was like in southern Tenerife before tourism. Declared a Site of Cultural Interest as an Ethnological Site, it preserves traditional architecture, historic paths, water sources, and agricultural terraces in a rural setting that has changed very little over time.
Activities
A.O.C. PETANCA, LOS CRISTIANOS
The A.O.C. Petanca Los Cristianos is a veteran club in the south of Tenerife, right across from the beach, where passion for this traditional sport is in the air. Located in a quiet, sunny area, it brings together local and visiting players looking for a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. More than just a court, it's a social meeting place where camaraderie, laughter, and healthy competition keep alive a deeply rooted custom in the Canary Islands.
Beaches
Playa de los Cristianos Puerto
Los Cristianos Beach, next to the port of the same name, is one of the most iconic beaches in southern Tenerife. Protected from the waves by the pier, it offers calm waters and golden sand, perfect for swimming and strolling. From the shore, you can observe the activity of the fishing port and the departure of ferries to La Gomera, combining a local atmosphere with the maritime charm of a traditional coastal town.
Nightlife
Roca Blanca
This beach club, located right on the seafront in one of the quietest areas of Los Cristianos, is ideal for enjoying a leisurely cocktail and stretching out the afternoon until sunset. It features a terrace with tables, a swimming pool, and Balinese beds, which should be reserved in advance. The atmosphere is relaxed, with music and a DJ, perfect for quiet get-togethers with friends or even for working from home with ocean views. It's not a place for formal dining, but rather for savoring the experience, the friendly service, and the sunset as the main attraction.
Shopping
Miel Tament
Tament, which means "honey" in the Amazigh language, is an artisanal gem produced on the same estate that makes Nevales de Abona wine, using Canarian black bees. It is multifloral, pure, and deep golden in color, with a smooth texture and balanced sweetness. Although it doesn't have an official organic seal, it is produced using sustainable and traditional methods. Like the wines, this product can only be found at the San Isidro Farmers Market, at Elsa's stand.
Sports
Circuito Motocross
The San Miguel de Abona Motocross Circuit is one of Tenerife's premier motocross venues. Its technically designed volcanic terrain combines jumps, tight turns, and fast sections, offering fun for both experienced and beginner riders. Located in an arid environment overlooking the sea, it is a popular meeting point for motorsports enthusiasts, with a local atmosphere, training sessions, and competitions throughout the year.
Trekking
Sendero Montaña Roja
Walking the circular route that starts in El Médano and heads toward Montaña Roja is like stepping into an otherworldly volcanic landscape: reddish sand, deep blue sea, and the wind that caresses you with every step. You can see World War II bunkers, aquatic birds, and panoramic views of the southern part of the island. You'll love it if you're looking for an easy hike with that "reconnect with nature" feel in southern Tenerife.
