Titolo 4
Avistamiento de Aves en Parque Nacional del Teide
Parque Nacional del Teide

Birdwatching in Teide National Park is a unique experience, both for the landscape and the species that inhabit it. Located in the heart of Tenerife, the park extends at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, where life has adapted to an environment that seems like something out of this world: volcanic soils, extreme temperatures, and sparse but resilient vegetation. In this setting, every bird that appears seems like a small natural miracle.
The undisputed emblem of the park is the Teide blue chaffinch (Fringilla teydea teydea), a species endemic to the island and one of the ornithological gems of the Canary Islands. Recognizable by its intense blue color and melodious song, it lives mainly in the high mountain pine forests surrounding Las Cañadas. Observing it requires patience and a certain amount of luck, but it is one of the greatest rewards for any nature lover.
In addition to the blue chaffinch, it is common to find common kestrels on Mount Teide, which glide elegantly over the plains in search of small prey, and grey shrikes, which are notable for their territorial behavior and distinctive hunting methods. You can also see meadow pipits, which wander along the stony paths, Canary Island stonechats perched in the brooms, and the discreet Canary Island warbler, always active among the branches.
In the higher altitudes, where vegetation almost completely disappears, species specially adapted to the scarcity of food and the cold survive, such as the Canary Island crow and the kestrel, which are common on clear mornings. In spring, with the flowering of the red tajinaste and the Teide broom, the park bursts into color and activity, attracting insects and, with them, more birds that take advantage of this brief period of abundance.
The silence of Mount Teide makes every trill resonate in the pure mountain air. Early morning or late afternoon are the best times for birdwatching, when the light reveals the warm tones of the landscape and the birds' natural behavior is most clearly evident.
Birdwatching here is not only an exercise in patience, but also a way to connect with the purest essence of Tenerife: a land where life adapts, persists, and sings even among rock and fire.
