Tegueste

Must-try dishes
Spiced Potato Pie
Meatballs with Almogrote
Croquettes

Arriving at Restaurante Benzonia is part of the experience. Located in a secluded area of Tegueste, surrounded by mountains and next to a eucalyptus forest, the restaurant occupies a traditional Canarian farmhouse, isolated and peaceful, far from the noise and bustle. What might seem like a drawback is, in fact, one of its greatest attractions: you come here specifically to enjoy yourself.

The interior is divided into rooms, creating an intimate and serene atmosphere. The decor is one of its greatest strengths: carefully curated, welcoming, and full of details with personality. The antique piano with its lid open stands out, lending an almost nostalgic air and an atmosphere that invites you to linger longer than planned.

The natural surroundings are a perfect complement. From the house, you can breathe in tranquility, with beautiful views and a feeling of complete disconnection. Furthermore, it has ample parking, which makes visiting easy despite its remote location.

The service is friendly, polite, and highly professional. The waiters are attentive, friendly, and efficient, maintaining a brisk pace without feeling rushed. This balance makes both family meals and romantic dinners particularly successful here.

The culinary offerings are based on traditional Canarian cuisine with a creative touch, beautifully presented and full of flavour. It avoids unnecessary embellishments, instead reinterpreting classic dishes with its own unique personality.

Benzonia is one of those places that is easily remembered: for its location, its ambiance, and the feeling of having discovered something special. A restaurant where the remoteness is an added bonus, the surroundings are captivating, and the experience undoubtedly invites you to return.

Where to eat

Focacceria MassaMonti

Focacceria MassaMonti, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is an innovative establishment where focaccia is reinvented with high-quality, artisanal products. Highlights include their focaccia brioche bread, original fillings made with Italian ingredients, and a unique, flavorful, and expertly executed menu, perfect for enjoying at the counter or taking away.

What to see

Presa de los Campitos

If you're looking for a peaceful getaway near Santa Cruz with a unique twist, the Los Campitos Dam has something special. It's not just nature: it's an abandoned structure that lends a distinctive character to the surroundings. You can stroll around, explore, and discover the contrast between the natural landscape and what was left unused. It's a little-known spot, perfect for disconnecting and discovering something different without going too far.

Activities

Área Recreativa Llano Los Viejos

If you're looking for a picnic area within Anaga that's more secluded and less crowded than others, Llano de Los Viejos has a very different feel. Here you're immersed in the laurel forest, with frequent mist, humidity, and that typical silence of the northern mountains. It's a more enclosed spot, perfect for relaxing, having a picnic or barbecue, and disconnecting from the hustle and bustle.

Beaches

Mesa del Mar

Visiting Mesa del Mar is like stepping into a tranquil corner where northern Tenerife feels most authentic. Upon arrival, you'll find a small coastal village nestled between cliffs, natural pools, and the open sea. Here, everything invites you to slow down: walk along the water's edge, sit and gaze at the Atlantic, and enjoy a local atmosphere, unhurried and unpretentious.

Nightlife
Shopping

Ron Guajiro

If you want to try a rum with a true Canarian identity, Guajiro is one of those that's part of the local culture. You'll notice it especially in the honey rum: sweet, smooth, and very easy to drink, perfect after a meal or on the rocks. They also have drier and oaked versions if you prefer something more robust. It's a very local product, the kind you'll find in traditional bars and shops around the island.

Sports

BMX Parque la Vega

The BMX circuit at Parque de La Vega in La Laguna is one of the most active spaces for freestyle enthusiasts in northern Tenerife. Surrounded by greenery and a youthful atmosphere, it offers a course with ramps, jumps, and modules ideal for practicing technique and style. It's a regular meeting point for local riders who appreciate its relaxed, community-oriented atmosphere, open to all levels.

Trekking

El Tomadero

A circular route in Anaga Rural Park connecting Punta del Hidalgo with El Tomadero, ascending via a channel carved into the rock and descending through the ravine. It's approximately 6 km with little elevation gain, but includes technical and exposed sections that increase the difficulty. The channel is in very good condition and clean, although it can be quite vertigo-inducing in some places. The descent through the ravine is rocky and uncomfortable. A short but demanding route, not recommended for people with vertigo.
