Las Fuentes

Granadilla

When you visit Las Fuentes in Charco del Pino, what immediately strikes you is the blend of traditional Mediterranean cuisine with personal touches and lovingly prepared dishes. The restaurant is off the beaten tourist track, giving it a more intimate and local feel: it's the kind of place you discover through word of mouth or recommendations, and then you understand why.

The menu is strong in its rice dishes and paellas, which are consistently well-executed: soupy seafood rice dishes, Valencian paella with chicken and rabbit, black rice, or paellas with unexpected ingredients that work beautifully. I particularly enjoy the soupy seafood rice for its perfect combination of texture and flavour, and the fact that it's prepared with care shows it's not a dish that's been thrown together haphazardly.

In addition to the rice dishes, the menu includes other well-executed options: grilled meats or meats cooked with simple yet effective techniques, and distinctive starters that provide a varied beginning to your meal. The atmosphere, while family-friendly and unpretentious, is welcoming; once you sit down, you feel you're in a dining room where the quality of the ingredients is paramount and the service is attentive and unhurried.

Another thing I appreciate is the restaurant's relaxed feel: you can come as a couple, with friends, or with family, and there's always something that suits your taste. The staff's friendly approach is a huge plus: they greet you warmly and are happy to guide you if you're unsure what to order.

For me, Las Fuentes works particularly well if you're craving traditional Mediterranean food with a local focus, highlighting perfectly prepared rice dishes, shareable plates, and a relaxed atmosphere that doesn't try to impress with pretension, but rather with honest and well-executed flavours. It's a great choice if you're in southern Tenerife and want a flavourful meal without any fuss.

Cuevas del Trigo

Cuevas del Trigo beach is one of those wild corners of southern Tenerife where you'll feel the island remains untouched. A secluded stretch of volcanic coastline, with natural caves carved into the rock and a tranquil atmosphere, it's ideal for disconnecting, taking leisurely strolls, and listening only to the sea and the wind.
