Chamorga

Macizo de Anaga

Chamorga is one of the last truly wild corners of Tenerife. Located in the northeast corner of the island, within the Anaga Rural Park, this small village is the end of a narrow, winding road that seems to take you back in time. Surrounded by laurel-covered mountains, deep ravines, and sharp ridges, Chamorga is the starting point for some of the island's most spectacular hiking trails.

The hamlet is small and quiet, with simple houses nestled among the vegetation, and you can barely hear anything but the wind, the birds, and, if you're lucky, the occasional grazing goat. Here, you can breathe authenticity: there are no fancy restaurants or souvenir shops, just nature, rural history, and a lot of silence. It's the perfect place to disconnect from the world and connect with your surroundings.

From Chamorga, trails lead to places like the Anaga Lighthouse—a solitary lighthouse perched over the ocean—the hamlet of Roque Bermejo, or Punta de Anaga, one of the most isolated spots on the island. The routes, although demanding, reward you with dramatic views of the sea, vertiginous cliffs, and a sense of absolute isolation.

Although remote, Chamorga has a cozy feel. In some rural houses, you can eat homemade food or stay to explore the area more leisurely. Everything revolves around the mountains, the sea, and tradition. There is no cell phone service on many stretches, and that, far from being a problem, is part of its charm.

Chamorga is for those seeking the authentic, the unspoiled, and the essential. It is Tenerife, raw, silent, and profoundly beautiful.

Cabeza del Tejo

If you love feeling immersed in unspoiled wilderness, this viewpoint in Anaga, Cabezo del Tejo, will leave you speechless. Upon arrival, you'll find yourself literally stepping onto a natural balcony overlooking the north coast of Tenerife. From here, you'll see the Roque de las Ánimas, the cliffs of Benijo and Almáciga, and the entire Atlantic Ocean stretching to the horizon. Surrounded by laurel forest and the mists of the trade winds, it's one of those places where the landscape remains pristine.
