Cabeza del Tejo

Macizo de Anaga

When you arrive at the Cabezo del Tejo viewpoint, you feel like you're standing on one of the most spectacular natural balconies in the Anaga massif. The viewpoint is located within the Anaga Rural Park, in the protected area of the El Pijaral Integral Nature Reserve, an environment dominated by laurel forest and a landscape that combines humid woodland, mountain ridges, and a rugged coastline.

The first thing you'll notice is how the terrain suddenly opens up towards the ocean. From this point, you can contemplate a large part of Tenerife's northeast coast, with easily recognizable landmarks such as Roque de las Ánimas, the Benijo Valley, and the hamlets of Almáciga, all silhouetted against the deep blue of the Atlantic. The feeling is that you're looking at an almost untouched landscape, where mountains covered in vegetation plunge directly into the sea, forming dramatic ravines and cliffs.

The area surrounding the viewpoint is also of great natural interest. Here, typical species of the Anaga laurel forest predominate, such as heathers, laurels, and ferns, vegetation that thrives thanks to the constant moisture brought by the trade winds. This combination of mist, forest, and altitude makes the atmosphere change dramatically depending on the time of day: sometimes the viewpoint is shrouded in low clouds, and other times it opens up completely, offering a clear view to the horizon.

It's usually reached on foot via trails in the park, especially from the La Ensillada area, on routes that cross some of the best-preserved laurel forests on the island. The walk to the viewpoint is already part of the experience, because the path winds among moss-covered trees, silence, and a landscape that seems to belong to another era.

When you finally reach the edge of the viewpoint, you understand why many consider it one of the great natural viewpoints of Anaga. Not only for the views, but also for the feeling of isolation, untouched nature, and the sheer scale of the landscape before you. It is one of those places where the north of Tenerife shows its wildest and most spectacular side.

Hacienda de las Palmas

When you arrive at the Hacienda de Las Palmas de Anaga, an old, abandoned farmhouse, you feel as if time has stood still. You are in one of the oldest rural estates in Tenerife, surrounded by ravines, what were once vineyards, and silence. Walking through its central courtyard, you see the dragon trees, the stonework, the adjoining chapel, and you quickly understand that this is not just any ruin: it is living history of northern Anaga, raw, authentic, and unvarnished.
