Titolo 4
Área Recreativa El Lagar
La Guancha

If you're looking for a picnic area in the north with a more natural and less exposed setting, the El Lagar Recreation Area in La Guancha has a very distinctive character. It's located within the Corona Forestal, in an area where the Canary pine forest blends with denser vegetation, creating a more humid and shady environment than other areas in the south.
Here, you don't get that feeling of open, dry space. The surroundings are more secluded, with denser trees, a ground covered in pine needles, and areas where the shade is constant for much of the day. This makes for a more leisurely experience, perfect for sitting down, eating calmly, and lingering after a meal without rushing.
The area is well-equipped for this purpose. There are wooden tables scattered among the trees, barbecues that allow you to easily organize a cookout, and enough space for groups without feeling overcrowded. It's not a huge place, but it's well laid out, which helps maintain a sense of tranquility even when there are other people.
An interesting detail is the name itself: “El Lagar” refers to the area's agricultural tradition, linked to grape pressing. Although its use today is recreational, the surroundings still retain that connection to the rural past of the island's north.
You can also explore the surrounding area. There are forest tracks and nearby paths perfect for short walks, without needing to embark on long hikes. It's more of a complement to your day than the main objective.
The atmosphere here tends to be quite family-oriented and local. It's not a tourist hotspot, and that's reflected in how people use it: small groups, quiet plans, and that more relaxed pace typical of the north.
If you're looking for a cool spot with real shade and a more secluded environment where you can disconnect from the noise, El Lagar works very well. It's less flashy than some other places, but more comfortable if you want to spend hours without even noticing.

It's a place closely linked to the primary sector of northern Tenerife, where the authentic flavor of Canarian cheese takes center stage.
