Paisaje Lunar Teno Alto

Parque Rural de Teno

High atop the Teno massif, within the municipality of Buenavista del Norte, lies a hidden area popularly known as the Lunar Landscape of Teno Alto. While less famous than the one in Vilaflor, this spot possesses a unique charm: a landscape sculpted by erosion, with pumice formations, light volcanic sands, and gentle undulations that evoke an almost surreal scenery.

The surroundings retain an authentic rural atmosphere, with ancient terraces, small stone houses, and pastures where livestock still graze, producing the area's artisanal cheeses. The views from here are breathtaking: to one side, deep ravines plunge down to the sea; to the other, the verdant Teno Rural Park stretches to the horizon.

The hike to this spot follows peaceful paths where cardon cacti, tabaiba plants, and broom predominate, and where the silence is broken only by the sound of the wind or the bells of livestock. It is a corner that combines the geological with the human, a sample of how nature and rural life intertwine in one of the purest areas of Tenerife.
