Faro de Punta Rasca

Reserva Natural Especial del Malpaís de Rasca

The Punta Rasca Lighthouse is located at the southern tip of Tenerife, within the Malpaís de Rasca Special Nature Reserve, an environment where the volcanic landscape and the sea meet unfiltered. It is one of those places that retains its authentic charm: no paved roads or surrounding buildings, just the whisper of the wind, the smell of salt, and the black shapes of solidified lava reaching the water.

The original lighthouse was built at the end of the 19th century and, as in other parts of the island, was replaced by a taller, modern tower that is still in operation. Both buildings coexist in the same space: the old one, made of stone and with a classic appearance, and the new one, white with red stripes, which dominates the coastal horizon.

It can be reached on foot from Palm-Mar or Las Galletas, following an almost flat coastal path that crosses the lava field. It is an easy walk, ideal for enjoying at a leisurely pace, taking in the contrast between the volcanic rock, the low vegetation typical of this area of the island, or even a swim in its various coves and natural pools.

Upon reaching the lighthouse, the landscape is breathtaking. There's no urban noise, only the sea and the wind crashing against the rocks. From here, you can see part of Tenerife's south coast and even, on clear days, the silhouette of La Gomera in the distance.

Visiting Punta Rasca is a peaceful experience, perfect if you enjoy walking and discovering unspoiled natural spots. There are no services or bars nearby, so it's a good idea to bring water and sunscreen. You'll love it if you're looking for that blend of history, nature, and tranquility by the sea that defines the most authentic south of the island.
