Circular de Agua Garcia
Tacoronte

The Agua García Trail, in the municipality of Tacoronte, is a circular route that crosses one of Tenerife's most valuable reserves of monteverde forest. Located at an altitude of approximately 900 meters, this trail allows you to enter an ancient laurel forest where the centuries-old viñátigos—emblematic trees up to 800–1,000 years old—are preserved in their prime.
The route begins at the forest's interpretation center and follows the old Camino Real, surrounding the rural center of Agua García and passing through wetlands, natural springs, and traditional water galleries. The route is designed to be accessible: the terrain is gentle, with no marked gradients, and has benches and signs for resting, making it perfect for leisurely walks.
The flora does not disappoint: laurels, heathers, mocanes, ferns, and strawberry trees mingle in a landscape that seems straight out of a fairy tale. It's also a refuge for native birds such as the wood pigeon, the turqué, the blackbird, and the blue chaffinch, which you can observe up close if you bring binoculars.
This route is a green and serene option: ideal for unwinding, breathing fresh air, and feeling the vibrant pulse of the Canary Islands' forests. There are no crowds, just unspoiled nature, a bit of local history, and an atmosphere that invites you to relax. Perfect for a half-day trip away from the usual tourist crowds.
