Montesdeoca Artisanal Cheese Factory, located in Tijoco Bajo, Adeje, is a true benchmark in Canary Islands cheese production. Founded in 1984 by a family from La Palma, today three generations have kept alive a craft that combines respect for tradition with a constant pursuit of innovation. What began as a small farm has evolved to become Tenerife's most award-winning cheese factory, accumulating more than 70 national and international awards and being chosen several times as "Best Cheese of Tenerife."
Montesdeoca is home to more than a thousand goats whose milk, along with sheep and cow milk, gives rise to a variety of cheeses that are surprising in both their quality and creativity. Its specialties include the smoked semi-cured cheese, recognized as one of the best in Spain, cured cheeses in gofio or fig leaf, and more innovative offerings, such as pieces flavored with cocoa and cinnamon.
