Titolo 4
Minas de San José
Parque Nacional del Teide

If you're looking for a landscape that seems straight out of Mars, you'll find it at the San José Mines. The moment you step out of the car, you're surrounded by a reddish-ochre landscape, with volcanic textures that resemble mineral dust and small formations sculpted by the wind over time. The feeling is strange, almost cinematic, as if the surroundings don't quite belong to Earth.
This area is part of Teide National Park and owes its appearance to volcanic materials rich in iron oxides, which explain its intense color. It's not a wooded or green place; here, the contrast between the red of the ground and the blue of the sky dominates, with Mount Teide and other volcanic formations completing the scene. This combination is what makes it one of the most photographed spots in the area.
After walking a few meters, you realize that it's not just beautiful in photos. The silence, the vastness of the space, and the feeling of being high in the volcanic mountains are truly captivating. The ground is loose in places, so it's best to walk carefully, but that very texture is part of its character.
Light plays a key role. At dawn or dusk, the colors intensify and the landscape gains depth. If you enjoy photography, you'll find almost endless compositional opportunities here. If you simply want to feel the island's geological power, this place presents it to you unfiltered.
More than just a specific viewpoint, it's a natural setting where geology takes center stage. It has been used several times as a location for renowned films and is the perfect spot to capture a unique photograph.
