Buceo Túnel de Garachico
Garachico

The Garachico Tunnel is one of the most spectacular and challenging dives in northern Tenerife, famous for its volcanic structure and the wealth of wildlife it harbors. Formed by ancient lava flows, this underwater tunnel begins with an access point from the platform, descending vertically to approximately 20 meters. At this point, the tunnel makes a 90-degree turn and becomes a horizontal gallery that progressively widens, with ceilings up to approximately 17 meters high in some places.
The tunnel walls are formed by basalt columns, natural arches, and rock formations that play with the light, creating dramatic backlights when the sun filters through. Inside, especially in the darker areas, species such as crayfish, snails, shrimp, swimming crabs, sea urchins, snake stars, commatulas, planarians, and shade-fish hide. Upon emerging from the tunnel, you can swim outdoors around the volcanic arc that borders the area, completing the dive with open underwater landscapes.
This dive is not for everyone: it requires an experienced diver because it involves depth, darkness, orientation within the gallery, responsibility with light and equipment, and different sensations than typical coastal dives. It is also more affected by waves or currents due to its exposure to the North Atlantic.
What truly sets the Garachico Tunnel apart is its mix of underwater volcanic architecture, twilit fauna, the transition from vertical to horizontal spaces, and the sensation of exploring something more organic, more "sculptural" than just seeing fish. For those seeking diving with character, landscape, structure, and excitement, this spot is one of the most impressive on the island.

What to see
Tensei Tenmoku
If you enjoy discovering hidden gems while strolling through Garachico, Tensei Tenmoku will captivate you. It's a contemporary sculpture called "Gate Without a Door," created in Carrara marble by the artist Kan Yasuda and placed facing the sea at the fishing pier. You walk up to it, admire it from different angles, and each time it transforms against the backdrop of the blue Atlantic—it's one of those places that always looks great in photos and simply makes you smile.

Beaches
Charco de Los Frailes
Charco de Los Frailes, on the Garachico coast, is an almost secret volcanic haven where the sea forms crystal-clear pools between dark rocks. It's a wild, quiet, and deeply natural place, ideal for unwinding, observing the landscape, and feeling the force of the Atlantic without the crowds. Its beauty lies in its purity: no services, no artifice, just the sound of the sea and the wind.

Ciclismo - Ruta 1
One of the most spectacular cycling routes in northern Tenerife: the circular route that starts in Garachico and climbs toward Erjos, passes through Santiago del Teide, descends the winding Masca ravine, and returns along the coast through Buenavista. Volcanic landscapes, pine forests, hairpin bends, and views of the Atlantic make this demanding route a classic for cyclists seeking both physical challenge and natural beauty.
