Cueva del Viento
Icod de los Vinos

The Cueva del Viento, in Icod de los Vinos, is one of those experiences that makes you feel like you're on the planet. It's a volcanic tube formed by lava from Pico Viejo (Mount Teide's "sister") about 27,000 years ago. Although its name sounds epic and its 17 km length makes it the longest volcanic tube in Europe, what you're really visiting is a very specific section: only about 250 meters inside the cave, which you walk there and back, or about 500 meters underground, plus the external route to the entrance. In total, you'll walk about 1,200 meters through lava, vegetation, and absolute darkness.
The entire tour lasts about two hours and is always guided. First, you'll visit the visitor center, where they explain how everything was formed, what species live (or lived) there, and then they lead you along a beautiful trail among lava flows, vineyards, ancient paths, and a bit of local history. When you arrive at the cave entrance, they put on your helmet and flashlight, and you enter in a single file with the group. Inside, you'll be amazed: there's no artificial light; you can see everything with your headlamp. And although it's not a long hike, the volcanic formations, the "waterfalls" of petrified lava, and the atmosphere make it special. Fossils of extinct species have even been found, such as the giant Tenerife lizard or the giant Guanche rodent.
It's not an intense caving adventure, but it's unique. However, it's not suitable for young children (under 5) or people with claustrophobia or reduced mobility. Wear good shoes, comfortable clothing, some warm clothing, and book online. It's a different, educational, and quite impressive plan if you're interested in the volcanic origins of the islands.

What to see
Tensei Tenmoku

It's a contemporary sculpture called "Gate Without a Door," created in Carrara marble by the artist Kan Yasuda and placed facing the sea at the fishing pier. You walk up to it, admire it from different angles, and each time it transforms against the backdrop of the blue Atlantic—it's one of those places that always looks great in photos and simply makes you smile.
Activities
Área Recreativa El Lagar

Here, you're surrounded by pine forest with undergrowth, and picnic tables and barbecues are well integrated into the environment. It's a comfortable place to spend a relaxing day, have a picnic or barbecue, and unwind in a cooler, more natural setting.
Beaches
Charco de Los Frailes
Charco de Los Frailes, on the Garachico coast, is an almost secret volcanic haven where the sea forms crystal-clear pools between dark rocks. It's a wild, quiet, and deeply natural place, ideal for unwinding, observing the landscape, and feeling the force of the Atlantic without the crowds. Its beauty lies in its purity: no services, no artifice, just the sound of the sea and the wind.

Sports
Ciclismo - Ruta 1
One of the most spectacular cycling routes in northern Tenerife: the circular route that starts in Garachico and climbs toward Erjos, passes through Santiago del Teide, descends the winding Masca ravine, and returns along the coast through Buenavista. Volcanic landscapes, pine forests, hairpin bends, and views of the Atlantic make this demanding route a classic for cyclists seeking both physical challenge and natural beauty.
