This circular trail, perfect if you're up for an intense day, combines parts of the PR-TF53 (Los Silos–Cuevas Negras–Erjos) and PR-TF54 (Erjos–Las Moradas–Los Silos). The total hike is about 18 km, usually taking between 5 and 6 hours, and has a cumulative elevation gain of approximately 1,400 m, so it's considered medium-high difficulty.
Start early in Los Silos (~100 m altitude), first climbing along Susana Street and a rural road toward the Cuevas Negras Ravine. The route from Los Silos to the hamlet of Cuevas Negras is about 3 km of cobbled terrain between laurel trees, barbusanos, and ancient walls. Here you connect with PR-TF53.1 if you want to detour to Tierra del Trigo, but continue along PR-TF53 along the El Salto riverbed until you reach Erjos, located at about 1,000 m (the first 5.7 km and about 3 hours from the start).
Then you change to PR-TF54, which descends the slopes of Monte del Agua, passing through Las Moradas de Arriba and Bajas. This section passes between farms and hillside trails, then descends into the valley until you reach Los Silos again, completing the circle. Amidst midland forests and ocean views, you reach the coast. The mix of vegetation (laurisilva, fayal-brezal) is spectacular.
The route offers history and nature: you walk along an old Camino Real (Royal Road), see ancient walls, canals, traditional crossroads, and rural farmhouses. All immersed in Teno Rural Park, a reserve that alternates between humid forest and views of Roque de Las Moradas or Mount Teide, depending on the route.
Practical tips: wear hiking shoes, layered clothing (higher elevations may be wet or foggy), some sunscreen, walking sticks if possible, water, and snacks. Leave early to avoid the heat or fog. There are no refreshment points along the way. Remember to respect approved trails and private property.

Where to eat
Mesón del Norte
If you're in the Las Portelas area and fancy some authentic Canarian food, Mesón del Norte is a sure bet. Here you'll find traditional dishes, generous portions, and a charming village bar atmosphere. It's a simple, unpretentious place where you can eat well at a good price, ideal for stopping after a day exploring the Masca or Teno area. It's also one of the highest-rated restaurants on the island for meat.
What to see
Tensei Tenmoku
If you enjoy discovering hidden gems while strolling through Garachico, Tensei Tenmoku will captivate you. It's a contemporary sculpture called "Gate Without a Door," created in Carrara marble by the artist Kan Yasuda and placed facing the sea at the fishing pier. You walk up to it, admire it from different angles, and each time it transforms against the backdrop of the blue Atlantic—it's one of those places that always looks great in photos and simply makes you smile.
Activities
Caña y Ron
Caña y Ron is an agricultural and cultural project in Icod de los Vinos that revives the historical cultivation of sugarcane in Tenerife and connects it with the artisanal production of rum. It's a living farm where you can learn, walk, taste, and understand a key part of the islands' history.
Beaches
Charco Don Gabino
Charco Don Gabino, in Los Silos, is a coastal gem in northern Tenerife where lava and the sea merge into a natural pool of clear, calm waters. Away from mass tourism, it retains a relaxed, local atmosphere. It's easily accessible and offers a perfect spot for swimming, fishing, or the simple pleasure of gazing at the Atlantic from an authentic, unpretentious setting.

Via Ferrata Del Risco Blanco
The Risco Blanco via ferrata, in the heart of Guía de Isora, is one of Tenerife's most spectacular. It combines adventure, volcanic landscapes, and open views of Mount Teide and the Atlantic. It's not a route for beginners: it requires good physical fitness and a cool head, but the reward is an altitude experience with breathtaking panoramas and a unique sense of freedom.
