Titolo 4
Buceo La Catedral
Puerto de la Cruz

"La Catedral" is one of the most iconic dives in northern Tenerife, very close to Puerto de la Cruz, accessible only by boat. Its name is no coincidence: the eroded lava structures beneath the sea form arches, vaults, and caves reminiscent of an underwater cathedral, making it a very special visual experience.
The descent usually begins at a depth of about 20 meters, advancing to areas reaching 35-45 meters depending on the route chosen. The underwater landscapes include coral gardens, gorgonians, giant caves up to 20 meters high, arches carved by lava, and slits where light enters, creating impressive light effects.
As for the fauna, it is common to find moray eels, crabs, catalufas, old fish, schools of grunts, and trumpetfish. In certain darker, sheltered areas of the rock, species adapted to the shadows provide added value for those who enjoy underwater photography.
The site requires more than just a "novice" level: intermediate or advanced certifications are recommended due to the depth, the currents that sometimes occur, and the structural complexity of the terrain. For those with experience, it offers a variety of routes, from exploring caves with volcanic ceilings to exploring passageways and rock platforms.
What sets La Catedral apart from many other diving spots in Tenerife is its combination of geological beauty (the formations that resemble architecture), diverse wildlife, and striking depth, all within a short distance of the north coast. It's not just about seeing fish, but about feeling immersed in a magnificent rocky landscape, with light, shadow, volume, and explorable spaces. If you're interested in underwater photography, a sense of adventure, and structural bottom diving, this dive is one of the most impressive on the island.
