Guia de Isora
The Natural Pools of La Jaquita, in the coastal town of Alcalá, are a place where the volcanic sea becomes a natural pool: rock pools formed between lava and dykes, prepared for safe bathing and recreation in front of the island of La Gomera. It is easily accessible by a well-signposted walkway that starts next to the Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora and goes through gardens and sports areas until it reaches these pools.
The water is crystal clear and shallow throughout, perfect for families with small children. Although the environment is semi-urban, the natural essence has been respected: at the ends most exposed to the Atlantic there are bars, but the waves enter freely, constantly filling and renewing the water. The seabed is rocky, so the use of booties is recommended. Some nearby coves and small inlets offer more places for free swimming.
Basic services are available: showers, toilets, lifeguards in high season, sunshade and deckchair rental, and even access for people with reduced mobility. There are areas for towels and natural shade. In the immediate surroundings there are beach bars, informal restaurants and cafés with sea views, ideal for accompanying your swim with fresh fish or Canarian tapas.

What makes it special is that I learn not only the scientific facts but also the human stories surrounding the volcano, all in an accessible, free, and conveniently located building.

The Los Gigantes Cliffs are a spectacular place to observe seabirds and birds of prey in Tenerife. From here, you can see species such as the osprey, the falcon, and the raven, which nest on the cliffs. The vertical walls that drop to the sea, the rocky coastal areas, and the proximity to the ocean make it an ideal natural viewpoint for those who love nature, the wind, and open skies.

Trekking
Montaña Tejina
If you enjoy less crowded hiking in southern Tenerife, this circular route around Montaña de Tejina is a very complete option. You'll walk approximately 13 km around this large volcanic crag, over a thousand meters high, which was a sacred site and key center of social interaction for the Guanches. The route passes through ravines, ancient threshing floors, small hermitages, and traditional agricultural remains. There's hardly any shade, but in return, you'll have open panoramic views for much of the way and a constant sense of a rural, volcanic, and mystical landscape.
