Titolo 4

Faro de Punta Teno

Parque Rural de Teno

The Punta Teno Lighthouse marks the westernmost point of Tenerife and boasts one of the archipelago's most breathtaking landscapes. It stands within the Teno Rural Park, in the municipality of Buenavista del Norte, surrounded by cliffs, volcanic formations, and an ocean that appears particularly wild here. The current lighthouse, with its distinctive red and white stripes, was inaugurated in 1978, replacing the original one, built in the late 19th century, which still stands beside it.

Reaching Punta Teno is part of the adventure. The road connecting Buenavista to the lighthouse winds through tunnels and past spectacular cliffs, and during the day, access is regulated to preserve the environment, so it's usually reached by bus or bicycle. This controlled isolation allows the place to retain its pristine atmosphere: upon arrival, the horizon seems endless, and the only sounds are the wind and the sea crashing against the rocks.

From the lighthouse, you can enjoy some of the most breathtaking views in Tenerife, especially of the Los Gigantes cliffs, which rise before you like a natural wall. At sunset, the landscape transforms: the colors of the sky, the contrast of the black rocks, and the reflection of the sun on the sea create a scene that seems otherworldly.

Visiting Punta Teno is more than just a photogenic excursion; it's a way to discover the wildest and most unspoiled side of Tenerife. You'll love it if you enjoy tranquility, wide-open landscapes, and that feeling of being literally on the edge of the island.

Mesón del Norte

If you're in the Las Portelas area and fancy some authentic Canarian food, Mesón del Norte is a sure bet. Here you'll find traditional dishes, generous portions, and a charming village bar atmosphere. It's a simple, unpretentious place where you can eat well at a good price, ideal for stopping after a day exploring the Masca or Teno area. It's also one of the highest-rated restaurants on the island for meat.

What to see

Paisaje Lunar Teno Alto

The lunar landscape of Teno Alto, practically overshadowed by its "older brother," the lunar landscape of Vilaflor, is one of those places on the island that surprises with its serenity and natural beauty. Surrounded by silence and with sweeping views of the ravines and the ocean, it displays a terrain of light tones and gentle shapes that contrast with the vegetation and crags of the Teno massif. A little-known corner, but full of magic.
