Ciclismo - Ruta 1

Garachico

The cycling route connecting Garachico – Erjos – Santiago del Teide – Masca – Buenavista – Garachico is a true emblem for cycling enthusiasts in Tenerife. It's a circular route that combines effort, spectacular scenery, and iconic roads. The starting point is usually Garachico, with its volcanic coastline and the immediate climb towards Erjos, a long and demanding ascent through curves and landscapes of laurel forest and pine forest, requiring good physical preparation.

From Erjos, the route levels out until reaching Santiago del Teide, a perfect place to recover before embarking on one of the most famous sections of the island: the descent towards Masca. Here, the tight curves and extreme gradients offer an intense and technical experience, surrounded by deep ravines and breathtaking views. The descent, as tough as it is spectacular, becomes one of the highlights of the route.

After Masca, the route continues towards Buenavista del Norte, along the coast, where the sea accompanies the cyclists until they return to Garachico. This combination of mountains and coastline, of demanding climbs and exhilarating descents, makes this route one of the most complete and challenging in Tenerife. It's not only a top-level physical challenge but also an unparalleled visual experience, ideal for cyclists who want to discover the island in its purest form.

What to see

Tensei Tenmoku

If you enjoy discovering hidden gems while strolling through Garachico, Tensei Tenmoku will captivate you. It's a contemporary sculpture called "Gate Without a Door," created in Carrara marble by the artist Kan Yasuda and placed facing the sea at the fishing pier. You walk up to it, admire it from different angles, and each time it transforms against the backdrop of the blue Atlantic—it's one of those places that always looks great in photos and simply makes you smile.
